Travel
The Frederick Douglass Center (FDC) is located conveniently near the city center and can be accessed by the St. James park metro station.
It is within 15 minutes walk of Newcastle central station, and only 10 minutes from the main university campus. It can be easily travelled to by bus.
The closest paid car park is The Garage (NE4 5QB), includes 15 accessible bays. There is also additional accessible street parking bays located on Bath Lane/Willington Street outside The Catalyst and The Core. However, these are public parking spaces, so cannot be reserved in advance.
Please note: the central station metro does not service St. James park directly.
Facilities
There are genderless, single cubicle toilets on site alongside an accessible toilet, baby changing facilities and a nursing room on the ground floor.
Within the Urban science building (opposite the FDC) is a prayer room that will be available for use by attendees.
There are multiple quiet areas around the FDC and Urban science building where you are welcome to take time out of the day to enjoy.
Water, teas and coffees will be available.
Should any issue arise volunteers will be around to help, so please don't hesitate to ask for assistance.

When is the deadline for abstract submission?
Abstract submission will be open until the 15th of October 2026, we anticipate general registration to be open for longer.
Will the conference be online this year?
Unfortunately this year we have decided the NEPG will be fully in-person this year following feedback from previous years. However, the conference is completely free!
What are the conference fees?
NEPG is, and always has been, completely free to attend!
Abstract FAQs
Can I do a poster AND a talk?
Unfortunately, no. We aim to give opportunities to as many PGRs as possible. If you are giving a talk, we would recommend putting your contact information on your final slide so that people can talk with you and there will be plenty of opportunities for mingling!
Can I be considered for a poster if I am not successful for a talk?
Yes! You can choose this option in the form.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
No, even if you are currently working on multiple projects we kindly request that only one abstract be submitted.
What is the word limit for the title?
We ask for no more than 20 words for the title, keep it brief though!
What is the word limit for the abstract?
Please ensure your abstract is no more than 250 words. We anticipate we have a high volume of abstracts to read through; therefore, we will be excluding applications over this limit.
How do I write an abstract?
Abstracts are a concise summary of the main findings of your work. Abstracts need to introduce the research field, highlight your aims your methodologies, summarise the results and conclude the impact/significance of your work. We recommend having a conversation with your supervisor(s) prior to submission for advice and feedback.

How will my abstract be marked?
All entries will be anonymised and will be marked by our committee. We will do our best to allocate abstracts by field to the most appropriate committee member, but please be aware this may not be possible for every discipline.
Can I get feedback on my abstract?
Unfortunately, due to the anticipated high demand of abstract submissions, we will not be able to provide feedback.
When is the deadline for abstract submission?
The deadline for abstract submission is the 15th of October 2026.
When will I find out the outcome of my abstract submission?
We anticipate this will be mid-November. We will email successful applicants to let them know the outcome and confirm they will be attending.
